Student entrepreneurs Nearly 80 percent of would-be entrepreneurs in the United States are between the ages of 18 and 34. A 2005 poll from Junior Achievement found that 68.6 percent of the teenagers interviewed wanted to become entrepreneurs, even though they knew that it would not be an easy path. In spite of this overwhelming interest, youth rarely receive any information about entrepreneurship as a career option. | Kentucky Student Ventures Corporation “KSVC focuses on education, training and mentoring, so we can develop and encourage the necessary entrepreneurial skills of Kentucky high school and college age students to create and operate successful student-run small businesses.” The Kentucky Student Ventures Corporation (KSVC) has establish strategic partnerships with organizations that currently provide support and training to young people and would be entrepreneurs is vitally important. KSVC provides assistance and encourage the creation of student-run businesses. KSVC serves as a “virtual” small business accelerator by connecting local business leaders as mentors to interested youth and providing other assistance that may be available locally or on the internet. KSVC promotes the development and helps manage “Student Agencies” like organizations on Kentucky college and university campuses. KSVC promotes creation of high school student-run businesses, school-based enterprises and entrepreneur clubs. KSVC provides supervision and continuity (knowledge repository) as students graduate from high school and many of these businesses can continue from year-to-year. KSVC will develop an online e-commerce site to market and sell student created products and services all over the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
